ClassDojo Messenger

ClassDojo the mega popular behavior management/positive reinforcement site has just released their free mobile (iOS/Android) app for messaging.  CD Messenger is a free simple to use app that allows educators and parents to stay in touch through messaging on their mobile device.  Best of all, it's private, safe to use, and allows people to send attachments (i.e. photos, documents, etc) as well.

Here are some more ways teachers are using Messenger...
  • Easily engage parents by instantly sending updates home
  • Privately message 1-on-1 with a parent, or Broadcast to all parents in your class!
  • Share photos of wonderful moments from the classroom :)
  • Know who’s read your messages with ‘Read receipts’

ClassDojo Voice Notes

ClassDojo recently released a free mobile (iOS/Android) app for sending text messages to parents, Messenger.  However, they just released their first big update for their widely successful app, Voice Notes.  Voice Notes allows educators to send a quick audio note to parents to let them know how their child is doing.

Here is more from their promotional email...

Teachers will now be able to instantly send home voice notes to parents using ClassDojo Messenger. Recording a quick voice note can be even easier than typing a message, and will only help strengthen the relationship between school and home. Voice Notes can be sent either as a broadcast to all parents, or privately to an individual parent.

The biggest reason Voice Notes are important is one that teachers know very well: relationships with students and their parents need a very human touch. When parents hear the empathy, passion and excitement in a teacher's voice, much stronger bonds can form!

Voice Notes on ClassDojo Messenger is being released for early teacher users today! Teachers can sign up to join the wait list here: http://www.classdojo.com/voicenotes

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is one of my all-time favorite Web 2.0 sites and is widely popular for their free classroom management learning tool.  This is an excellent easy to use site/app for gauging student's behavior and tracking a class.  Also, students have a login in this safe COPPA compliant environment where they can visualize how they are doing in school.  Best of all are the features that allow educators to generate reports and even share this data w/ other educators and parents w/out having to give out personal information (all sharing is done through the app).

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is one of the most popular free "web 2.0" sites on the web for educators.  This fantastically simple site to use has teachers all over the world integrating ClassDojo into their classroom to help track and manage student behavior.  This is done through a very fun and simple user interface that has educators add a point (for positive or negative behavior) to reinforce appropriate behavior.  Also, CD allows educators to generate detailed classroom reports and share them w/ others (educators/parents) via email.  Finally, ClassDojo has one of the best resource sharing pages I've seen that allows educators to find out how others are using CD in their class, and print out resources too.

ClassDojo Class Sharing

ClassDojo the popular "web 2.0" site for managing classroom behavior has just released a highly anticipated update, 'class sharing'.  This update allows for teachers to share feedback w/ other teachers about students behavior.

More from their press release, "With this newest feature, several teachers in one school can now collaborate around a class of students to deliver consistent experiences that emphasize building positive behaviors and character strengths like like participation, hard work, persistence, curiosity, risk-taking, and helping others. Teachers can now let other teachers provide feedback to their students by giving them ‘full access’ to the class; alternatively they can provide each other ‘view only’ access if they just want to share progress reports."

Class Charts

Class Charts is a cool new site that I just found out about from Richard Byrne's excellent blog.  This is a great site for creating customized seating charts by using one of their many templates.  What I really like is the ability to use an icon or student photo for the chart as well as assign key data such as: Reading/Spelling data.

Another nice feature which reminds me of the wonderful site Class Dojo, is that a teacher can also manage and track student behavior using CC.  A educator can assign behavior points by clicking on an icon and then generate detailed reports.

ClassDojo

ClassDojo is a site I've covered before and even done professional development on.  This is one of the most intriguing sites I've seen in awhile and is ideal for behavior management.  All of this is done online or iOS app in a fun and simple way.  A teacher creates a class and then assigns either negative or positive "feedback" to a student by a simple click of a button.  For example, a teacher can assign a "+" for positive behavior such as participation, or a "-" for negative behavior such as interrupting.

Also, CD is a great way to engage students through audio sounds as a student can hear when they are receiving positive/negative feedback in real-time.  Another nice feature is the ability to take attendance as well as get detailed reports and share them w/ a click of a button.

Classroom Carrots

Classroom Carrots is a site that reminds me of a cross between Class Dojo and Class Badges.  This is done by using their educational portal to create a class and add students.  Once that is done a teacher can then modify their rewards/stickers and start adding these stickers to students.  This is used to manage behavior as well as increase student engagement.   Also, they have a nice iPad app for mobility.
